They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so maybe a few greasy burgers can bring Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz back together!
The recently split parents of Bronx, 2, were spotted together twice over the weekend, according to Us Weekly. Simpson, 26, and Wentz, 31 reunited for a trip to In-n-Out Burger on Saturday and again for a visit to Taco Bell's drive-thru on Sunday. (Maybe custody arguments make them hungry for junk food!)
When the two filed for divorce in February, Simpson asked for primary physical custody and joint legal custody with Wentz. The parents, who've been married for three years, released a statement reiterating that their little boy's "happiness and well-being remains our number one priority."
It was looking like this famous duo would be able to evade a nasty Hollywood custody battle, until Wentz fired back in court asking for joint physical custody and that he and Simpson both pay their own legal fees. However, a source close to Wentz told People: "There's no fire. It's a very straightforward response asking for joint custody and fair distribution of attorney's fees. He's not gearing up fro a custody war."
According to Us Weekly, there's no word yet on whether their trips for burgers and burritos mean the two are getting back together or simply keeping things amicable as they discuss divorce details. But Wentz made it clear on Ryan Seacrest's radio show Monday that he and Simpson are, indeed, on good terms.
"Ashlee's been my best friend for five years. She's the mother of my child," Wentz said. "I have nothing but love and respect for her...Going through something like this isn't easy, but we're friends and the most important thing is to put our son first."
Simpson was spotted just last week with rocker Craig Owens, who happens to be Wentz's protege, and sources claimed they were dating. But another source tells Us Weekly the two are just "longtime friends" -- and it seems like Wentz isn't bothered by the rumors at all!
